ABOUT OUR CHAPTER

Our purpose is to improve the lives of older adults and persons with disabilities by providing safe slow trishaw rides, free of charge. These experiences create opportunities for our passengers and pilots to build intergenerational relationships, enjoy the natural beauty of Door County, and remain an active part of the local community.

Becoming an affiliate chapter of Cycling Without Age and bringing this program to Door County has been gratifying work. Being able to provide free trishaw rides along the beautiful roads of Peninsula State Park, along the peaceful Ahnapee State Trail, along the waterfront of Sturgeon Bay, and down our county's less traveled roads has allowed us to serve a variety of agencies throughout Door County. We know that we are actively contributing to this community and making a genuine difference in people’s lives.

“Cycling Without Age is a movement – literally – that’s creating a sense of freedom, joy and happiness in an awesome meeting of generations.”

— Ole Kassow, CWA Founder

Cycling Without Age Guiding Principles

Generosity: Generosity permeates every activity in Cycling Without Age. It starts with the simple act of taking one or two elderly or differently abled people out on a bike ride.

Slowness: Slow paced rides are in contrast to the fast pace of modern society. By incentivizing the slowness of the ride, passengers are allowed to fully take in the environment and be present in the moment.

Storytelling: Storytelling is an important interaction between passengers and pilots. Sharing, listening to and documenting stories merge people together from all generations.

Relationships: By creating an opportunity where relationships can flourish, Cycling Without Age encourages, strengthens and energizes the connectivity among participants.

Without Age: We let people age in a positive context, without social limitations, by providing them meaningful interactions with members of their local community.
